Coque feathers are located on the tail of the rooster and are mainly used in millinery - hats and fascinator decoration. They are stripped down to leave a tear drop at the top.
Stripping is a process that removes approximately 3/4 inches of feather from the bottom portion of the stem, to leave beautiful feather tips in order to create a very unique couture look. The tips of the coque feathers are thicker and wider than the stripped hackle.
Although this item is used most often in Millinery, there are many other uses such as Bridal, Costuming, Fashion Accessories, Floral, Mask Making and Pet Toys.
